In 1989, the Black Students’ Union presented this plaque to Rice University to ensure Martin Luther King, Jr., would be memorialized on campus. It resides in the student center and features a portrait of MLK by artist Wil Clay and a quote from one of King’s speeches against the Vietnam War.
